Using the ADDIE Model To Train Copywriting Team on CTA Usage

What is the ADDIE Model?

The ADDIE Model is an Instructional Design Model used in Adult Learning. Like the Dick and Carey model, its goal is to structure the process of teaching adults.
ADDIE stands for: Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate

Analysis

Our copywriting team struggled with creating CTA buttons and verbiage throughout our web designs. So I researched when to add CTAs, where to add them, what they should say, how to use them and how all of that relates to SEO.

Design

Then, I outlined the items I wanted to discuss:

  • Why these issues matter as far as improving SEO for our customers.
  • Rules to follow for CTA placement
  • Good and bad examples of CTAs

Develop

Next, I created a deck in Google Slides and finalized deck in Microsoft Powerpoint that would answer all of the outlined items.

Implement

After that, I presented the slideshow to the copywriting teams to further their understanding. In each presentation, I always allow for Q & A time.

Evaluate

Finally, to continue evaluating the copy team, we score each website using rules created internally that track if these new standards are being followed.
